Holiday Sweet Treats

Holiday time brings about all things sweet, so I felt it was fitting to share with you two of my favorite homemade treats. One is a healthy treat that is easy to take on the go and the other recipe is one that I have kept near and dear to my heart but felt like it was time to share a great inexpensive gift to give. Recipe 1- Guilt Free “Yogurt Bark” Ingredients
  • Greek Yogurt
  • 1-2 types of fruit of your choice
  • Honey or Stevia
  • Optional: nuts, coconut, chocolate morsels etc.
How to:
  1. Mix the yogurt with sweetener of choice
  2. On a parchment lined cookie sheet spread yogurt across the sheet
  3. Take cut up fruit and sprinkle across the yogurt
  4. Add the chopped nuts or granola or your choice.
  5. Put in the freezer for at least 30 minutes
  6. Once hardened break into pieces and serve
Recipe 2- Holiday Indulgence “Cracker Candy” Ingredients:
  • Saltines
  • 1 stick of butter
  • ½ c brown sugar
  • Any type of morsels ( milk chocolate, peanut butter, toffee, dark chocolate, semi-sweet, white chocolate etc.)
  • Optional: nuts, hard candy ( virtually anything you would want to add on top would work)
        How to:
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
  2. Line a large cookie sheet with aluminum foil
  3. Line the sheet with even rows of saltine crackers, until whole sheet its fully packed with crackers
  4. In a small pot, add 1 stick of butter on medium heat let is melt
  5. Once it’s melted add brown sugar and stir
  6. Stir frequently until the mixture starts to bubble, you may raise the heat but watch carefully as the sugar and butter mixture doesn’t burn
  7. Once the mixture is evenly consolidated, take a spoon and drizzle all across the top of the lined saltines.
  8. Add the cookie sheet to the oven and watch very carefully. It will start to bubble on top ( ~roughly 2-3 minutes) once it bubbles on top evenly, remove from oven.
  9. Take chocolate chips and peanut butter chips and sprinkle across the top of the saltines.
  10. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes (or until a butter knife can evenly spread the melted morsels across the top)
  11. Once morsels are melted, spread across the whole sheet evenly, creating a chocolate coating over the saltines.
  12. If you choose to add additional toppings you do so now, before placing in the freezer
  13. Place in Freezer for at least 30 minutes to harden.
  14. Remove from freezer and break with hands
